How to request deletion
- Send an email to support@chi2labs.com from the email address you use to sign in to Kai.
- We reply with a confirmation link sent to that account email address. Opening the link confirms that you control the account.
- Once confirmed, your account is disabled and scheduled for deletion. You have a 30-day grace period to change your mind before anything is permanently removed.
Send from your own account email. To protect your account, we only act on a request that comes from — or is confirmed by a link sent to — the email address that owns the account. We cannot delete an account on behalf of someone else.
For your privacy, we respond the same way to every request: if an account exists for the address you write from, you will receive a confirmation email. We never confirm or deny whether a particular email has a Kai account.
The 30-day grace period
Deletion is not immediate. After you confirm, your account enters a recoverable 30-day grace period:
- Your account is disabled right away, so it can no longer be signed in to.
- We email you to confirm the deletion is scheduled and to tell you how to cancel it.
- If you change your mind, follow the cancellation link in that email to restore your account.
- Shortly before the grace period ends, we email you a final reminder.
- After 30 days, the permanent deletion below is carried out.
What is deleted, de-identified, and retained
When the deletion is carried out after the grace period:
| Handling | Your data |
|---|---|
| Deleted | Your account profile and personal settings, your notification preferences, your to-do tasks, your chat conversations and messages, and your activity history. Your sign-in account is removed. |
| De-identified | Your quiz, homework, and feedback responses (and any grades on them) are kept for class statistics, but your name and email are removed and replaced with an anonymous token so the responses can no longer be linked to you. |
| Removed from rosters | Your email address is removed from the enrollment lists of any courses and class sessions. |
| Retained | Institutional course records — lecture recordings, transcripts, and summaries — are kept as records of the class, within governing law and institutional policy. |
Our data policy
Retained and de-identified data is handled under our data policy:
“We don’t share any data with third parties, but may use it to improve our products, always within governing law and institutional policies.”
See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for more detail.
Deleting from inside the app
If you have the Kai app installed and can sign in, you can also start the same deletion from Settings → Delete Account. Both routes lead to the same recoverable 30-day process described above.
